About the Print Cover
This month’s cover illustration is by Brian Clarke, aka Les Toil. He is a Berkeley artist with a love for “Big Daddy Roth car models, paintings of big-eyed children, The Fantastic Four, MAD Magazine, The Jackson Five, and Bruce Lee. These are some of the aesthetic forces that have molded my art.”
He attended the California College of Arts and Crafts and The San Francisco Academy of Art. He invented the name Les Toil when he was creating rock ’n’ roll art posters and CD cover art for the bands he loved. That technique involved pen and ink and digital painting as opposed his traditional style of painting with oils and acrylics. Learn more at LesToil.net.
