Take a Snooze

Off the Shelf

What are you looking for in a pet bed? Something washable, durable, and stylish, right? Snappy Snoozers Pet Beds, designed and founded by Roberta K. MacDowell, fit the bill.

Marketed as an “orthopedic bed,” this product is essentially an air mattress with a quilt that snaps onto the mattress as a covering. The bed comes packaged with an extra quilt, so when one gets soiled, there’s another available while the laundry gets done; toss it in with your regular wash. Sanitizing the mattress just requires a quick, wet wipe.

The mattress, reportedly claw and scratch proof, also comes in a bag with a pump, but a shoddy one—at least the pump Bay Woof received didn’t work at all. Our test model bed was for a small dog, so blowing it up with old-fashioned lungpower worked fine, once you got the hang of squeezing the valve open while forcing in the air. The bed holds its shape well, meaning it’s airtight, and it’s good for indoor and outdoor use.

The small bed is 22″ x 16″ x 4″ and sells for $69.99 and the medium/large bed is 34″ x 22″ x 4″ and costs $79.99. They are available in baby blue, tan, pink, navy, and gray. Find Snappy Snoozers online at SnappySnoozers.com.

It’s always nice to have an extra dog bed around. And while we haven’t tried floating it in a pool, that just might be an option for a water-loving hound.
