Some Radical Thinking About Bowls

Off the Shelf

Your dog is rad, right? Of course he is. And now he can be even more rad with a Rad Dog collapsible pocket water (or food) bowl ($11.95).

Bay Woof tested a red-and-black Rad Dog bowl, which arrived in a teeny-weeny package since this foldable, pocket-stuffable, bad boy bowl weighs in under an ounce and is about the size of a modern day car key fob.

The product images convey more of a structurally sound bowl than you actually get. Once the Rad Dog bowl is filled with water, the bowl—lightweight waterproof nylon—spreads out wide and seems floppy and flimsy, though that didn’t matter one bit to test dog Cody, who lapped up a good portion of the 16-ounce quantity the bowl held.

The Rad Dog bowl is easy to unfold and re-fold, it sure doesn’t take up much space, it dries fairly quickly, and it is functional. But I kept thinking it’s so small that folded up, I would for sure lose it. I designated a special hidey zip pocket for it and there it stays until I need to share some water with my four-legged friend. Glug, glug, glug from my water bottle into the awaiting Rad Dog bowl, and, voila, lap, lap, lap by the pooch.

“It’s easy to take anywhere. When you want to take your dog running or to the beach, but don’t know if there will be a water source, the Pocket Bowl is the solution,” Rad Dog makers suggest.

The humans behind Rad Dog are outdoorsy folks whose motto is simple, innovative, and fun. No arguing with that. They cater to the off-leash crowd and say they also source and make their stuff—retractable collar leashes, leashes, dog food travel bags, clothes, accessories, and poop bags in addition to the bowls—here, in the USA.
