6th Annual Concert for Canines. Sat., Nov. 16, 7-10: p.m., Back Forty Texas BBQ, 100 Coggins Dr., Pleasant Hill. The 6th Annual Concert for Canines at the Back Forty Texas BBQ in Pleasantville combines dogs, music, and barbecue. Help raise funds for the East Bay Animal Rescue & Refuge. Music from California Cowboys, Bob Kinney, and Living Daylites, $10 donation at the door. 10 Year Anniversary of Sniff: The Dog Movie. Wed., Nov. 5, 7 p.m., Grand Lake Theatre, Oakland. Sniff: The Dog Movie turns 10, and director Barry Stone is celebrating with a screening at the Grand Lake Theatre. The movie, which premiered Nov. 5, 2009, tells the story of two dogs whose training began at Guide Dogs for the Blind. One became a guide dog, and the other grew up to become a search and rescue dog. Tickets available at the door.

13th Annual Pawtrero Dog Day Afternoon. Sun., Nov. 3, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Pawtrero Bathhouse & Feed, 199 Brannan St., San Francisco. Join Pawtrero for Dog Day Afternoon, an adoption street fair in San Francisco. It features a pet costume contest, a pet photo booth, pet caricatures, a live DJ, trick or treating, pet adoptions, and vendors. www.Pawtrero.com.

20th Annual Paws In Need Holiday Boutique. Sat., Nov. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Compass Realtors, 900 Main St., Pleasanton. This one-day holiday boutique will include animal-themed holiday gifts for people and pets, garden art, cards, ornaments, home and kitchen decor, purses, jewelry, hand-crafted items, and much more. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted for payment. There will also be opportunities to win gift baskets. All proceeds benefit Paws In Need’s animal medical program. Dia de los Perros Muertos. Fri., Nov. 1, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Her Elevated, 1900 28th St., Sacramento. Enjoy a drink, bites, pups, and such in honor of your current and passed pets and in benefit of Front Street Animal Shelter. Bring a picture of a beloved pet to place on an alter to celebrate the souls of our missed furry loves. $15-$25.

Guide Dogs for the Blind’s Graduation Ceremonies. Sat., Nov. 9 & 23, 1:30 p.m. Guide Dogs for the Blind California Campus, 350 Los Ranchitos Road, San Rafael. Honor the independence and companionship that GDB’s exceptional guide dogs provide for the people they will serve. These services also allow GDB clients to meet the committed puppy raisers who cared for their canine heroes until they were old enough to begin formal training at GDB’s campus. Show up 20-30 minutes before graduations. Graduation-day public tours of the campus are offered at 10:30 a.m. or noon on the days of the ceremonies. Pre-registered bus groups are also welcome. Mutt Lynch Yappy Hour at Pup Plaza. Sun., Dec. 8, 2-5 p.m., 14408 Union Ave., San Jose. Silicon Valley Pet Project and Mutt Lynch Winery in Windsor team up for a wine happy hour with Wines That Give Back. The wine is now on sale through Mutt Lynch Winery in Windsor (and their website). SVPP will receive 25 percent of the sales price of each bottle.

Pick Your Pooch at Pup Plaza. Thu., Nov. 14, 7-8:15 p.m., Pup Plaza, 14408 Union Ave., San Jose. This event is part of Silicon Valley Pet Project’s community educational series and features Ellen McBriarty, CPDT-KA, providing resources and guidance on how to pick the right dog for you/your family. Thinking about adding a dog to your family? This session will help point you in the right direction and help match your lifestyle with the type of dog that will best fit right in. Pawtraits for a Cause – Santa Cruz. Sun., Nov. 3, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Shanty Shack Brewing, 138 Fern St., Santa Cruz. This is a pet portrait marathon benefiting Hearts for Paws Rescue. Bring your pet friend to Shanty Shack Brewing to get a pet portrait taken by Molly Gilholm, www.MollyGilholm.com. Proceeds go to Hearts for Paws Rescue, a volunteer-run dog rescue based out of Davis and Santa Cruz. Tickets for portraits are available for pre-sale for $25; tickets day of event are $30. Release Party of Mutt Lynch’s Newest Wines That Give Back. Sat., Nov. 16, noon-4 p.m., Mutt Lynch Tasting Room, 9050 Windsor Ave, Windsor. Mutt Lynch Winery partners with Silicon Valley Pet Project by producing a special wine and label for SVPP. The launch party is at the winery. Some the proceeds will go to SVPP. SVPP Holiday Pup Photo Shoot With Fuzzy Beastie Photography. Sun., Nov. 17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 14408 Union Ave., San Jose. Suszi Lurie McFadden of Fuzzy Beastie Photography is ready to take beautiful holiday photos of you and your fuzzy beastie(s). You’ll receive two photographer’s choice images sized for sharing on social media and printing on cards and have the opportunity to see and purchase additional images as prints, enlargements, gifts, and framed pieces.
