Alameda County Fair Pet Food Drive. Wed., June 19, Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton. Help the Valley Humane Society by brining a donation to the Alameda County Fair and get free admission and $1 rides until 5 p.m. Donations accepted include: cat food (eight cans or 1 three-pound bag), dog food (four cans or one 3-pound bag), cat litter, heartworm preventative medicine, and puppy pads. Animals on Broadway. Sun., May 19, 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Broadway Plaza, 1275 Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Join ARF in celebrating the special bond between pets and people at this community festival. Bring the whole family — including your pet — and walk to save lives at the Pet Walk. Sign up as an individual or with friends as a team to help raise $100,000 for animals in need. The fun continues with raffles, demonstrations, and Pet Wellness Fair offering an array of health services for your best friend. Guide Dogs for the Blind’s Graduation Ceremonies. Sat., May 11 & 25, 1:30 p.m. Guide Dogs for the Blind California Campus, 350 Los Ranchitos Road, San Rafael. Honor the independence and companionship that GDB’s exceptional guide dogs provide for the people they will serve. These services also allow GDB clients to meet the committed puppy raisers who cared for their canine heroes until they were old enough to begin formal training at GDB’s campus. Livermore Valley’s dog friendly wineries host a day of fun for dogs and their owners across the region.
