In these times, can one ointment serve all of one’s minor first-aid pet needs? Maybe.
Green Goo by Sierra Sage at least is thinking in that one direction when it comes to easing those itchy insect bites, moisturizing dried-out noses, and soothing unexplained rashes that some furry family members — cats, dogs, bunnies, chickens — tend to pick up. Its Animal First Aid Salve is marketed for hot spots, bites, scrapes, cuts, bruises, cracked paws, and then some.
Does it really heal? Who knows, but it sure doesn’t hurt. And it is all natural and made from plants — calendula, chickweed, plantain, comfrey, yarrow, myrrh, sage, St. John’s Wort, and olive oil. Even so, it smells like citronella — which is to say, it smells pretty good and goes on smoothly.
This salve (and other Green Goo products) contains no parabens, petroleum, or mineral oil, so there’s that to feel food about. And the pet first-aid salve comes in air-tight tins in two sizes: 1.82 ounces (large), $14.95, and .7 ounces (travel tin), $8.95. It’s safe for humans, too.
Another thing or two of interest, perhaps: The Cololrado company is a women-owned and family-operated business that started small creating specialty products for friends and families that were often sold at a farmers markets. The salve production process infuses organic oils with fresh and dried herbs for greater potency.
