Stumped for what to do with your dog this summer? This July issue is full of entertaining ideas for you and your pooch to undertake together, such as:
Try partying on some patios. Summer is the best season to take your well-loved, well-behaved, and well-deserving best furry friend along for al fresco dining, drinking, and eating opportunities. Our Bay Area roundup of pleasing patios suggests 10 dog-friendly and spacious hot spots to try in the East Bay as well as nine canine-cool hangouts in San Francisco worth visiting.
Consider giving your dog a mission: Join the Dog Scouts of America. A little like Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts except it’s for dogs and their humans, DSA lets canines earn merit badges, eventually sewn on stylish doggie vests, for jobs, skills, and tricks well done. Bay Woof catches up with Ruth Robinson, the East Bay chapter troop leader of DSA, for some straight poop on the organization.
Bring home a new furry family member. Nancy Mizuno Elliott’s story of fostering Dakota, a shell-shocked beauty now coming into her own at her forgiving temporary home after being rescued from a horrible puppy mill will renew your faith in the power of healing humans. Nathan Fowle of Oakocalyptic Pet Photography does a great job capturing Dakota’s essence with his camera. She still needs a forever home. For that matter, so do the adorable dogs in Doggie in the Window from Pets In Need and the other cuties gracing our Adoptable Dogs pages.
