Big congratulations, high-fives, and hip hip hoorays to the more than 100-plus winners of Bay Woof’s 2018 Beast of the Bay contest. This is Bay Woof’s 10th year of honoring dog-centric businesses, services, organizations, and people throughout the Bay Area for loving, championing, promoting, and serving our best furry friend, the dog. Take a bow.
The Beast of the Bay results, which took a massive amount of wrangling to compile, include reader-selected winners and a big roster of runners-up. Beast of the Bay had two phases. In phase one, readers nominated their favorites on an open-ended online ballot in the categories of Community, Web, Food & Drink, Shopping, Health & Wellness, Canine Services, and Shelter & Rescue. Many of the items under those headings contained a geographic component — San Francisco, East Bay, and South Bay/Peninsula.
After weeks of voting, Bay Woof launched phase two, a contest among the top-vote getters. Readers cast their votes online for their favorite doggie-oriented person, place, or thing from among the top-performing nominees. Those with the most votes were deemed the winner, and the top-tier nominees were runners-up.
Bay Woof is proud to recognize and honor these winners and runners-up and urges all of its dog-loving readers to show the winners and the runners-up some appreciation. Let them know that their dedication, acumen, enthusiasm, expertise, and support do lead to improved lives and circumstances for canines and their people. Consult with this thorough list to find out what other San Francisco Bay Area dog people believe are the best and most preferred doggie goods, services, and causes. Use their services. Buy their goods. Donate to their causes. Support them. Congratulate them. Nominate them — and others — in next year’s contest.
Ask Dr. Dog, The Caninologist, Kitty Corner, and Off the Shelf will be back next month, September.
